This giant bunny (yes, it is taller than the ceiling) was part of NY-Japanese artist Momoyo Torimitsu’s 2000 exhibit called "Somehow I don’t feel comfortable." I like it because she’s mocking the Japanese obsession with cuteness. I hate cuteness too.
Most recently, her stuff was exhibited at the Mori Art Museum in Roppongi. She did a piece called "Horizons," which was an installation of 100 modded GI Joes with American, Japanese, and European faces wearing business suits and crawling all over a map of the world. She said this about it to the Japan Times:
Their heads come off, they lose their arms and legs. Some stop moving, run out of batteries, as if they are dead. The buildings collapse and the towns fall. It’s really like a war of globalism.
I love her! Picture of Horizons (2004) after the jump.
